The effort underlying this blog is to promote critical thinking. The focus of this blog is to make self-learning possible. As self-learning occurs, it is hoped that it would improve the ability to think critically.
The basic conjecture is that the motivation to learn declines rapidly as confusions come about in a subject. However, this motivation may be restored when proper materials help a person remove those confusions.
Can the basic confusions in a subject be removed in a short amount of time by presenting the fundamentals of that subject in a simple and logical fashion?
This blog tries to answer this question by focusing on the subject of mathematics where this lack of motivation is observed quite commonly. This blog presents the fundamentals of mathematics in a simple and logical way to see if people can be motivated to learn and think with it.
Self-learning is a fascinating subject on its own. And so is the subject of critical thinking.

GMW was admiring your work. You’ve done a lot of hard work here and it’s excellent. I had three wonderful teachers in grade school and high school who patiently helped me through mathematics but that was way before the internet. I particularly remember the mental exercise doing algebra.

Thank you. This is an experiment about self-learning. I have an adult student (in his fifties) working on these materials. He could never go past Division before. Now he has successfully gone past it, and working on MLA 9: UNITS at the moment. I have received valuable feedback from him that has helped me improve these lesson plans.
